Competition categories

Applicants are invited to submit photos in four thematic categories:

I. Student life

Student life from within, in other words: anything that students are passionate about, the ways in which they spend their free time and pursue their interests.

II. Architecture

Architecture - the buildings of Jagiellonian University, where history is very much alive, as well as those where the said history is just being written, bridges between the past and the present.

III. Impressions

Glimpses, moments, photographic impressions of the university and the academic community.

IV. Year of Wisława Szymborska

The category's theme relates to the hundredth anniversary of Wisława Szymborska's birth. It offers a look at the legacy of the outstanding poet through the lens of a camera, and an attempt to interpret her poems through the prism of photography.

In each category, the Jury consisting of professional photographers and photography theoreticians will choose the winning photo and award one distinction. Out of all the photographs submitted in the competition, the Rector of Jagiellonian University, Professor Jacek Popiel, will choose one whose author will be awarded the Special Award.
